The plans were trimmed, as several highways were closed due to bushfires.
Some of the national parks were also closed.
With the help of the radio, info centres and a friend on the mainland we made wise decisions on a safe route away from the fires. Nothing dramatic near us.
42 degrees and stormy winds were a bit too scary to camp in the middle of a forest so cosy small towns up north instead.
All good with us, so spread the word.
Seems the fires havereached international press and some people have started wondering...
