Uluru - Ayers rock - a hot experience

After a long drive in minimum 40 degrees and no aircondition (!) we arrived at Uluru! It is a very nice piece of rock lying there more or less by itself! With the group we walked the 9 km base walk around it, and the rock was changing all around. We enjoyed the tour, but there is a but here..

Unfotunately by the end of the tour my body protested against the heat, and I could no longer take much in of liquids or solids. This led to an undramatic, but necessary visit to a local clinic to refill me with a full liter of saline fluid. Maatren and the rangers took very good care of me, but we sadly enough had to break off the tour and return the next day, missing kings cave and Kata Tjuta.

Spirits were a little down after that, but rose after participating in a local christmas fair as well as having a relaxing day in Alice Springs. And more importantly: we got to se the Rock! :)
